Short Bio

Avery Chan is a composer, improviser, and instrumentalist from Hong Kong. Based in The Netherlands, she is currently studying composition under Vykintas Baltakas at Conservatorium Maastricht.

As a piano and recorder player, she has played improvisations in the Netherlands, Lithuania, and Denmark, where she played with improvisers such as Axel Dörner, Christian Windfeld, and musicians from the European Music Collective. One of her current focuses is on recorder playing and its extended techniques.

Besides instrumental playing, she is part of the improvisational choir Ear to Ear by Júlia Galarza, and has worked with fine arts students from Kunstacademie Maastricht to create interdisciplinary art. In her free time, she explores collage making and volunteers at museums.
