About me

Quick Summary

Born in Hong Kong (b. 2006) and currently studying composition at Conservatorium Maastricht in The Netherlands. But composing is not the only music activity. My main instrument is piano playing and currently I explore recorder (blockflute) playing.

Composition

I have always been writing music. At around 2019-2020 I discovered MuseScore and started writing more and developing my skills. I grew from writing small piano sketches in 2019 to percussion ensemble in 2021. Now during my studies, I have explored writing for a variety of instruments, such as the harmonica, the accordion, voice, and more. I am also exploring contemporary recorder techniques - I would love to show how versatile the recorder is - way more than simply for schoolchildren or simply for Baroque pieces.

Instruments

Piano is my main instrument - I've been playing for around 10 years (since ~2015-6?). At around 2021-2 I played as the accompanist for my secondary school's choir.

Like many people I learnt recorder at school (c. 2014-5?). That was my first ever instrument, and I self-learnt through the recorder book my school provided us. Then I took a very long hiatus until October 2024 - when I bought a recorder and brought it to theory class as a joke - and felt connected with the recorder again. Started taking recorder seriously again, getting books and material and new recorders... Fast foward a few months, and in February 2025, I improvised with recorders during ContemPLAY 2025 in Vilnius. I look forward to developing my recorder journey, who knows how it will go?
